SSR suction line filter drier is used on the suction pipe of the refrigeration or air conditioning system to absorb water, acid, and solid pollutants.
The big features of the suction line filter drier are:
It has two maintenance port to easily measure the pressure drop in the refrigeration system. The filtration accuracy reaches 35 microns, suitable for all the refrigerants.
Bi flow filter drier is designed for refrigeration and heating circulation system. It has a one-way valve inside of the filter drier, ensures that the refrigerant flows from the filter core outside to the inside so that the filter core can filter all the impurities and moisture no matter which side it comes.
It’s suitable for all the refrigerants, but remind us if you want to use R410 refrigerant.
The installation position is up to you.
You do not use to equip any one-way valve anymore.
You can choose the type of solid core.
Max working pressure:4.7MPA /680psi.
A burnout filter drier is the solid core filter drier, the solid core is made of 70% alumina and 30% Molecular sieve. It can efficiently absorb the harmful substances caused by the burning of the compressor motor, then protect the whole refrigeration system to avoid damage.
There is two extra port beside the inlet and outlet, they are using for connecting pressure gauge that can measure the pressure difference between the two sides of filter drier.
It has similar features with another filter drier, like corrosion-resistance paint for cover, strong body, high efficiency for absorption, good acid removal ability, can use for all the refrigerants, and all the environments. It uses a 40-micron filter screen to make sure a high filter function.
There is no limit for the installation position, but in our experience, for better function, it’s better to install the burnout filter drier on the inlet of the compressor, in the front of it, it’s better to use a vibration absorber.
Why does the refrigeration system need a filter drier?
If there is moisture in the refrigeration system, it will bring a series of bad effects on the operation and running of the system.
Because the Refrigerant is insoluble with water, and the refrigerant that contained water passes through the expansion valve, the water will be frozen because of the reduction of pressure and temperature, and this frozen will block the system to affect the normal fluid supply.
At the same time, if the refrigerant contains water, it will accelerate the corrosion of the metal parts of the refrigeration system.
So the refrigerant has to install the filter drier to absorb the moisture.
If the refrigerant is mixed with impurities such as dust, iron filings, during its circulation process, it will be easy to block the expansion valve to affect the flow rate of the whole refrigeration system.
Therefore, it’s very necessary to install a filter drier in front of the expansion valve and behind of liquid receiver to filter the moisture and impurities, and make sure good running for the refrigeration system.

Everything You Need to Know About Filter Driers
Many people fail to understand the importance of a filter drier and don’t absorb the intensity of its usefulness.
They tend to dismiss replacing it in time and fail to recognize the severe damage this can cause to your cooling system.
If you have any cooling system at your home or workplace that functions with the help of a filter dryer, you must understand its importance.
You are more likely to pay more attention to it when you know its use and how essential it is. Here, you will find out everything you need to know about filter driers.
What Does a Filter Drier Do?
HVAC systems like air conditioners and refrigerators are leading filter driers. There are two main things that filter driers are used for.
They absorb contaminants like water that can create acids within the system that could lead to potential damage.
The second use is the provision of physical filtration, which is especially required in cooling appliances.
An adequate filter drier will take both factors into users’ consideration and function efficiently like the Miracle filter drier.
What is Inside a Filter Drier?
A refrigerant filter drier mainly contains a set of materials.
These materials include molecular sieve and activated alumina.
The following have structures whose resemblance is akin to a honeycomb.
The depressions all have a uniform size.
This helps in the filtration process mentioned earlier by selectively absorbing the molecules based on their charge or size.
On the other hand, activated alumina is mostly just used to get rid of those molecules or particles that could form acidic substances.
This is inclusive of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids.
These are results of water and refrigerant being broken down at scalding hot temperatures.
The purpose is usually to clean up acid after a burnout.
How Precisely Does a Filter Drier Operate?
A filter dryer can absorb molecules selectively depending on their size or polarity.
The device allows the absorption of water but lets larger and functional molecules like oil pass through usually.
This happens because the surface of a filter dryer is coated with a positive charge.
These charges attract polarized molecules that can produce acids like water.
As a result, an efficient filter drier can help when situations like freeze-ups or system corrosion arise while keeping the formation of acids to a minimum.
If you talk about the filtration process, a filter dryer is able to do this with the assistance of a screen, wire mesh, and desiccant core, all of which you will be easily able to see inside the system.
If tiny particles end up accumulating over a passage of time, then this can cause issues.
For instance, the liquid from the refrigerant may become vapor.
This can cause massive problems, so it needs to be cleaned to ensure safe filtering.
What is a Filter Drier in AC?
A filter drier is needed in an AC as long as it is being used.
Similar issues in any filter drier in the refrigeration system and ACs are not excluded from the list.
Like others, there are two kinds of filter driers found in an AC.
Suction filter driers come in handy to protect parts of the system in case of any failure, whereas the liquid line filter driers are needed to help in filtering liquid refrigerant.
What is the Function of the Drier in the AC System?
The filter drier refrigeration process extends to ACs as well.
The function inside an AC system is mainly similar to the general system in any cooling unit.
The filter drier traps contaminants that could damage expensive parts in an AC.
Along with this, when the AC system does not need refrigerant and oil to function at times of low cooling demand, the filter drier can also function as the role of a temporary storage container.
How Often Should a Filter Drier be Changed?
Filter driers should be changed every two years.
This is because it needs to function properly, and changing this part is much better than ruining a much more expensive part of your appliance.
This is primarily for the filtering property.
Over time, it begins to accumulate a lot of debris and will need to be changed so that it can continue collecting particles that can potentially damage your system.
How Can I Check If My Filter Drier Needs Changing?
It is relatively easy to identify if your filter drier is bad because it begins doing things out of the ordinary.
This includes unusual noises, leakage of a strange residue, bad odor is emitted from your system, cooling is not as effective as it once was, and the sight glass is cloudy.
If you experience any of these that were not there when you used your system in the past, it probably means that your filter drier has gone bad, and it’s time to grab a new one.
Should I Install a Suction Line Filter Without Burnout?
You don’t need to wait for your system to experience burnout before installing a suction line filter.
The whole purpose of this filter is to collect any particles that could ultimately cause your system to fall into burnout.
This means that if you want to prevent your system from burnout, a suction line filter is necessary.
You do not need to wait for your system to have a burnout to install it.
It should be installed before you begin using your cooling system.
How Do You Install a Suction Line Filter Drier?
A suction-line filter drier is meant for protection.
They should be installed as close as possible to the compressor so that this expensive item can always be protected from harm.
If you decide to install a suction vibration eliminator, you should make sure that the filter drier is above it.
That being said, they can be installed both horizontally or vertically as long as they are between the right parts.
It can also be installed directly in the suction line but a part of it must be removed first.
Should the Filter Drier be Inside or Outside?
The matter of whether a filter drier should be installed inside or outside has remained debatable for a long time.
The answer for all cooling systems mostly depends on where the indoor coil has been placed.
The best choice of deciding whether the filter-drier should be placed inside or outside must be dependent on the placement of this coil.
The closer the filter is to the indoor coil, the less likely it is for the metering device to be flooded with residue.
However, the standard practice is to install filter dryers directly in front of the expansion device.
This standard practice means that one will be placed in the indoor section in some systems while the other will be placed outside.
Many people prefer keeping both driers outside because this makes them easier to service.
It can be said that there are multiple methods of placement, and as long as they adhere to the rules as mentioned earlier, there is a low chance of any issues.
It mostly comes down to preference and design.
Conclusion:
Filter dryers are an essential asset of every cooling system; without this mechanism, your cooling systems, along with their expensive architecture and likely to be highly prone to damage.
With these filter driers, you will be able to prevent any harmful particles from reaching the inside of the machine and filter out whatever’s needed, which will ultimately protect the system as a whole.
Now that you know the basics about filter driers be sure to change them every two years so that you can protect your system from harm and allow it to work flawlessly for years to come.
